The short answer

What belongs in the brief?

A useful Airbnb photography brief tells the photographer who the stay is for, what makes it worth booking, every guest-accessible space that must be shown, and which five images should lead the listing. It also records practical details such as access, seasonal context, delivery sizes, and anything that must remain factually accurate.

A complete brief that can be edited in the browser, copied into an email, or downloaded as a text file.

Why each section exists

Give the photographer decisions, not adjectives.

01

Property and guest

Start with the real stay rather than a generic visual style.

  • Property name and address: Property name and shoot address
  • Best-fit guests: For example: couples, families, business travellers, or groups
  • Primary reason to book: The strongest real feature or experience
  • Details guests often ask about: Access, parking, stairs, workspace, shared areas, noise, or other practical questions
02

Coverage and gallery order

List every space, then identify the images that must earn and keep attention.

  • Must-photograph spaces: Exterior, entrance, living space, kitchen, every bedroom and bathroom, outdoor areas, and shared spaces
  • Amenities to prove: Workspace, parking, cot, hot tub, pool, storage, accessibility, or other bookable amenities
  • First five image plan: Cover photo, main room, sleeping space, standout amenity, and setting or exterior
  • Seasonal or local context: Only include details that will still be accurate when the listing is live
03

Shoot and delivery

Agree the logistics and final uses before the property is prepared.

  • Access and shoot window: Key collection, cleaner checkout time, best daylight, and any guest-free window
  • Preparation owner: Who will clean, declutter, style, open blinds, and check lights
  • Delivery deadline: Date, time, and any staged delivery dates
  • File requirements: Orientation, crop ratios, resolution, colour profile, and file format
  • Usage: Website, listing platform, email, advertising, social media, print, press, or internal use
  • Approval: Name the person who will approve the final selection

The image plan

Three priorities for this property type.

01

Explain the whole stay

Cover every space a guest can use, including entrances, stairs, bathrooms, boundaries, and shared areas.

02

Plan the opening five

Give each prominent image a different job instead of repeating near-identical room angles.

03

Show proof and feeling

Keep factual room coverage clear, then add truthful atmosphere and details that support the stay.

Accuracy boundary

Do not stretch rooms, replace views, hide permanent limitations, or imply amenities that are not available. Keep factual listing photographs easy to distinguish from illustrative campaign scenes.
