How to Refresh Airbnb Photos for Each Season Without Reshooting Everything

Plan a useful seasonal Airbnb photo refresh while keeping the listing accurate, current, and easy for guests to trust.

A seasonal refresh should make the listing timely, not temporarily unrecognisable. You rarely need to replace the whole gallery. Keep a strong evergreen core and update the images that explain how the stay changes through the year.

The most useful seasonal photographs show real differences: a garden in bloom, a working fireplace, outdoor dining, winter access, changing views, or an amenity with different opening periods.

The short version

  • Keep an evergreen core gallery.
  • Update real seasonal features and access conditions.
  • Avoid decorative changes that imply unavailable amenities.
  • Archive originals so you can rotate images cleanly.

01

Separate evergreen images from seasonal images

Evergreen images explain the permanent property: room layout, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, access, and core amenities. These should remain unless the space changes.

Seasonal images explain the experience at a particular time: autumn colour, snow, summer outdoor dining, festive dates, or a pool in operation. Tag the files clearly so the wrong version does not stay live.

02

Photograph what genuinely changes

Create a short list before each season. Include the exterior and approach, the view, outdoor areas, temperature-related amenities, local conditions, and any change to daylight. A winter arrival image can be valuable when access or parking looks different in snow.

Do not manufacture a seasonal promise. If decorations are only present for one week, say so. If a fire is decorative rather than usable, do not show it lit.

03

Adjust the opening group with restraint

Move one or two relevant seasonal images into the first five rather than replacing the entire sequence. Keep a clear interior and sleeping-space image near the front so the gallery still explains the booking.

A summer cover might lead with a terrace. A winter cover might lead with a warm living space. Both should represent what the guest can reasonably expect during the dates they are searching.

04

Use seasonal campaign images outside the core listing

Your website, email, and social channels can carry a more expressive seasonal story than a booking gallery. This is where lifestyle scenes can help people picture breakfast outside, a family weekend, or a winter evening.

Keep the core listing factual. Label illustrative or AI-created campaign scenes clearly wherever a viewer could mistake them for a documentary photograph of a real event or amenity.

05

Build a repeatable file and review system

Keep folders for evergreen, spring, summer, autumn, and winter images. Record the date each image was taken and the property version it shows. At the start and end of each campaign, check the live listing on mobile.

Retire images after renovations, furniture changes, landscaping work, or amenity changes. An attractive old photograph is still a weak listing image if guests will not see that version of the property.

Common questions

Questions people ask before they start

Do seasonal Airbnb photos help bookings?

They can help guests picture a stay during their travel dates, especially when weather changes the view, access, or available amenities. They work best as part of an accurate listing rather than as decoration alone.

Should I use Christmas decorations in Airbnb photos?

Only during the relevant period and only when guests will receive a similar setup. Keep permanent room images in the gallery so the property remains easy to assess.

When should old Airbnb photos be removed?

Remove them whenever they show furniture, views, layouts, decor, or amenities that guests will no longer find at the property.
